B. David Clader, Ph.D.

B. David "Dave" Clader is the founder and CEO of BQP Advisors. He is a quantum information theorist with expertise across many layers of the quantum software stack including quantum algorithms, resource estimation, characterization and control, and quantum error correction.  Dr. Clader's research has consistently focused on understanding how quantum computing and quantum technologies might apply to industry-relevant use-cases. In 2013, he published one of the first quantum algorithms with a practical application in mind - calculating radar cross sections. He has maintained this application focus throughout his career with his most recent publications focusing on understanding the both the potential as well as the limitations of quantum computing and related quantum technologies such as quantum sensors.

Prior to founding BQP Advisors, he was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs where he was a member of the quantum research team. There he led and conducted research into financial applications of quantum computing. Before joining Goldman Sachs, he spent eleven years at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory where he was a member of the Principal Professional Staff and led quantum computing and related quantum technology research efforts. He is also a Lecturer at the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering where he continues to teach a graduate-level course on Quantum Information Science. He received his bachelor's degree in Physics from the State University of New York College at Geneseo in 2002. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Rochester in 2008.
